Study in Australia

Studying in Australia provides one of the key pathways for immigration to Canada. Once the international student graduates from an eligible program of minimum 2-year full-time study in Australia, they can stay in Australia for 18 months to 4 years with a Temporary Graduate Visa, depending on their qualifications. However, Hong Kong passport holders may stay for 5 years with this visa.

To qualify for a Graduate Visa, international graduates must graduate from an Australian education institution with the past 6 months, with a bachelor/master/doctorate level or with a positive skills assessment result in an occupation on the Skilled Occupations List. They must also be under 50 and be competent in English (e.g. an IELTS score of 6 in all four abilities).

Gaining work experience in Australia after graduation may help you qualify for permanent residence in Australia through a variety of federal and state or territory programs; and in some cases, this can be done without a job offer.
