Canada’s federal program for self-employed persons allows people with experience in athletics or arts and culture to apply for Canadian permanent residence.

Achieved in the past 5 years,

  • At least 2 years of experience in cultural activities or athletics; or
  • At least 2 years of experience in participation at a world class level in cultural activities or athletics

Intention and Ability

Show your intent and ability to be self-employed in Canada and to make a significant contribution to your specific economic activities

Education

No minimum requirement

Language

Although there is no minimum requirement, the level of English or French can play a factor in determining the applicant’s ability to become self-employed in Canada.

Proof of funds

Show that you have enough money to support your business, yourself and any dependents once you arrive in Canada.
